On Moonlight Mile Songtext
Here Mick talking about album closer; "Moonlight Mile"
I don′t know how much I'd really written of this before I started doing it
It′s just me and Mick Taylor just goofing to start with, I think
But then it obviously is it starts to pick up and become
I mean, it's obviously really worked out, this sort of jam
And it's got this sort of vaguely oriental guitar line
And so I don′t really know what I′m doing sometimes on the guitar
So I do things that are kind of different because I don't know
But I should be doing
So, I just started picking out on acoustic guitar and Mick just sort of followed me
And Jim Price plays this strange timed piano lines, which creates this atmosphere
And Charlie plays drums with mallets
So it gives it this other texture
And then there′s this lyric, which is quite wistful and so on
And then we added the strings with Paul Buckmaster
So the whole package is, you know
Quite an interesting-, starts off with just acoustic and ends up with quite a big orchestra
So it's quite unusual in a way
So I always liked this piece, but we very rarely done it on stage
We rehearsed it a lot
In fact, I rehearse it every time we rehearse, but we very rarely do it
It′s quite fun to do, I mean, I'd play it
I′ve been playing electric guitar in it because it's, it's quite hard to do an acoustic really
But it′s a really interesting piece when I actually listen to it, which I really do
But when we rehearse, I want to listen to see what I did
And what everyone else did
But it′s kind of like, wow, that's pretty good, you know, just to done that
But there′s sometimes good things happening and you're not thinking about them
