Orphan (commentary) Songtext
Hi, this is David Paich, and we′re talking about "Orphan" here
Which was inspired from a few years back
I was at the, uh, United Nations honoring Desmond Tutu And I met a young artist, songwriter, rapper named Kanaan
Who had lost friends and family, and relocated to New York City
He was from Mogadishu, Somalia
And he had such a sense of community
And such a sense of joy in his music
I wanted to do something that demonstrated
Was uplifting, and, and showed that
You know, even though you may feel alone in the world
You are never alone in the world, and I was inspired by him
