Comfort Me Songtext

Little church on Williams Street
They had to tear it down
My brother calls once in a while
But he don′t come around

I hear they changed my high school's name
Can′t remember what it's called
I guess I'm a stranger in this place
It′s not my hometown anymore

So I drink my whiskey straight
And I take my coffee black
When I ran away from home
I never thought I′d make it back
And my mother prayed for me
Each night before she went to sleep
I wish that she was here
So she could comfort me

Things you wish would stay the same
It seems like they're the first to change
Fields we used to run and laugh in
Now they′re someone's real estate

And everyone I used to know
Is like a ghost to me these days
And I don′t think I have much else
That they could take away

So I drink my whiskey straight
And I take my coffee black
When I ran away from home
I never thought I'd make it back
And my mother prayed for me
Each night before she went to sleep
And I wish that she was here
So she could comfort me

I drink my whiskey straight
And I take my coffee black
When I ran away from home
I never thought I′d make it back
And my mother prayed for me
Each night before she went to sleep
I wish that she was here
So she could comfort me

Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
