Vietnam Songtext
von Paul Simon
Vietnam Songtext
I′d like to introduce you to a personal hero of mine
A man whose music I admire immensely
The great Jimmy Cliff
This is something that we experienced some time ago
Wanna tell you about a place and a time that we call
Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Yesterday I got a letter from my friend
Fighting in Vietnam
And this is what he had to say
"Tell all my friends that I'll be coming home soon" (soon, soon)
"My time will be up some time in June"
"Don′t forget", he said, "To tell my sweet Mary" (Mary, Mary)
"Her golden lips as sweet as cherries"
And it came from
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
It was just the next day his mother got a telegram
It was addressed from Vietnam
Now mistress Brown, she lives in the USA
And this is what the telegram said
"Don't be alarmed"
She told us the telegram said (said, said)
"But, mistress Brown, your son is dead"
And it came from
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
All I'm saying now
Somebody please stop that war now
A man whose music I admire immensely
The great Jimmy Cliff
This is something that we experienced some time ago
Wanna tell you about a place and a time that we call
Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Vietnam, Vietnam, Vietnam
Yesterday I got a letter from my friend
