I was walking over cobbled streets, my legs began to tire
I was looking for a place to rest my bones
See a crowded room, an open door and smoke from open fire
There's an old man there sitting on his own

He turned to me, said, "Take a seat and grab yourself a half
There′s something laying heavy on your chest"
With troubled eyes, I nod my head and knocked my whiskey back
Then he took a breath and this is what he said

"Oh, I don′t know where we're going, but I know we′ll find our way
There's a light that tries to guide us even on our darkest days
May your cup be overflowing with a smile upon your face
Hope you cherish every moment, may your days be filled with grace"


Now I′m where he used to be, his words become my own
I remember everything he said that day
And if someone sits down next to me, and they are all alone
Then I'll take a breath and this is what I′ll say
