Love is like wild water
That forces its way through rocks
Love is like a knife
That burns in your heart

It is sweet and it is bitter
A storm wind and a breath
For me, it is a rose
For you, a thorn bush


Who never cries and never mourns
Knows nothing of happiness
Who only seeks what lasts forever
Misses the moment

Who never takes, can never give
And who all their life
Is always afraid of dying
Never starts to live

If you think you are abandoned
And no way leads out of the night
You start to hate the world
That only makes others happy


But don't forget, on that branch there
Which almost froze in the snow
A rose blooms in the spring
So beautiful like never before
