Far from home
Drenched in rain
Hopeful still, this escape

Choices made
Come what may
Thought these woods
Would keep me safe

Tendrils wind
Obfuscate


Shelter wrecked
All in vain
No supplies
Foraging
All the doubts
Now to face
Spores drift past, beckoning

It′s easy to ignore hunger's pangs
When the forest floor becomes your grave

Body still
No more pain
Face in shadow
Hidden by the day
Red eyes glow out beyond the lake
Consuming all, mycelium partakes

Transforming these remains
Lifeless shell will rise again
To roam the earth
