The Vancouver Song Songtext

This is a song about a town you'll find,
If you trace the Fraser down,
And leave your finger at the place,
Where the river meets the Georgia Straight.

We come from all around the globe,
In many languages we call this home,
What we eat and what we wear may differ,
But that just makes our culture richer.

You may complain about the rain,
But those are just tears from the clouds out here,
Cause they can't stay every day.

We like to have a little fun,
We'll host a party and invite everyone,
But you would know that if you came to visit,
For Expo 86 or the Olympics.

We love our hockey team too,
Decked out in green and white and blue,
We know it wasn't unpatriotic,
When we would cheer for the Russian Rocket.

You may complain about the rain,
But those are just tears from the clouds out here,
Cause they can't stay
Yeah they know they won't stay,
No they won't stay every day.

In the shadow of snow-capped mountains,
Tucked in by the blanket of the sea,
Built on over a century of history,
A melody's evolved and we all sing along,
To Vancouver's Song.

You may complain about the rain,
But those are just tears from the clouds out here,
Cause they know can't stay,
Yeah they know they won't stay,
No they can't stay every day.
