She was the Queen of the Mardi Gras
Every guy in town had dreamed about
She made me feel like a movie star
When she said "Yes" the day I asked her out

I was the lucky one, I thought I′d walk her home
But how could I have known

She said: "I'll see you tonight at the Mardi Gras"
"I′ll meet you by the carousel at eight"
She said: "I'll be there tonight at the Mardi Gras"
I waited there 'til it was getting late


I heard the sound of the big parade
And coloured paper streamers filled the air
Searching the crowd as the music played
I only prayed that she would still be there

Was it just a lie? Was ist just a lie

Was she fooling all the time

She said: "I′ll see you tonight at the Mardi Gras"
"I′ll meet you at the carousel at eight"
She said: "I'll be there tonight at the Mardi Gras"
I waited there ′til it was getting late

Midnight – and the moon was high
I saw her – with another guy
They laughed – as they went dancing by

And they danced through the night of the Mardi Gras
I know what they meant now when she said
She said: "I'll see you tonight at the Mardi Gras"
But she was there with my best friend instead
