When I was a girl I knew
The lady of the lake
And I was her favourite child
She wore a white gown
Her yellow hair hang down
And her voice like a shadow
Was gentle like

Everyday to the sea
We would walk hand in hand
And build great white castles
Civilzations in sand
And I would paint her picture
With a seaweed brush
And get seashells for her
As gold washed over her


Sometimes she sits there straining
For the sun and something of sky of grey
And sometimes we′d try to catch it
Is it sponge?
To the deep sea comfort
Of its seaweed days

The lady of the lake is gone
Lost with childhood now
But the intoxication lingers on
And I remember the time

When I would paint her picture
With a seaweed brush
And get seashells for her
As gold washed over her
