In a recent future
This is past
May not seem that way because
You′re in the middle
Looking out
There is no will be, there's just was
What is past is brightly coloured
Sharply drawn and clear
The future′s sketchy
Though it's close, it's never here

In a recent future
You and I
Found some means of speaking
About the things we never said
And all the things we′re seeking

The future isn′t what it was
And it seems the distance
Just keeps getting wider
With or without assistance, oh


In a recent future
What is now
Somehow becomes before
As though we're always rushing through
Some huge revolving door

For the present what will be
Be here everafter
May that bring joy for you
May that bring laughter
