Homeless Life Songtext
Homelessness is a serious issue all across the world, man
But they don′t talk about it
So when I'm like Jay Z rich, I wanna do something about it
We used to live at Venice Beach, eat out the trash
We knew life was fucked up early on
Only seven, I′m already grown
We never stayed anywhere very long
We never had a home of our very own
The weight of the world, too heavy carry on
That's why you hear the pain in every song
I don't like to talk about my up bringing
I don′t bring it up ′cause it brings me down
Mama used to tell me never let them see you frown
But we hid a lot of pain beneath these smiles
Just a poor little dude, didn't know what to do
I couldn′t find a job, wasn't nearly old enough
Couldn′t tell me that my road wasn't rough
I had holes in my shoes, I could feel the road was rough
Walked around with the world on my shoulders
But it′s all good though, man, steel of shoulder shrugs
Daily asking for change, all I had was some change
I ain't nearly had them bill that fold enough
We knew life would be fucked up early on
Only seven, I'm already grown
We gotta turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones
Tell them negative thoughts leave you the hell alone
Gotta pedal on
No Eddy Murphy or Martin Lawrence involved ′cause life was no joke
The jaws of life bite you like a great white
But like the great white, there might be some hope
You can′t give up, give up on life
Even though you living through the homeless life
I know it gets tough, when it's rough gotta fight
Little kids shivering in the middle of the night, let me hear you say
"I′m a winner not a quitter, I'm a winner not a quitter
I′m a winner, never quit, na-na-na-na
I've been living out a ditch, I done seen a lot of shit
But I won′t ever ever quit, na-na-na-na"
I still remember that foster home
I was the oldest so I was the father grown at nine years old
God left us all alone
That's what it felt like, no home to call our own
Yeah, I did a lot of stressing, all I wanted was a blessing
And I had a lot of questions and I just wanted to know why
But I know, I know God
When you reach your lowest point, you reach the most high
No lie, won't make it if you won′t try
Don′t sink and watch the boat float by
Most probs give you strength, it's a blessing
Life′s a teacher, listen when it gives you a lesson
I was wishing for breakfast, hoping for dinner
Homeless and bitter, but I won't be a quitter
You can be cold with no coat, tryna cope
While it snow in the winter, just know you a winner
I was left all alone, my daddy abandoned me
Having no home is bad for your sanity
I used to look through the window at families
Happily gathering, that would be sad to me
You not tryna win, now win it to get out
You should never give in, give up or give out
You just gotta begin to figure the shit out
And you can go from living in a box to penthouse
You can′t give up, give up on life
Even though you living through the homeless life
I know it gets tough, when it's rough gotta fight
Little kids shivering in the middle of the night, let me hear you say
"I′m a winner not a quitter, I'm a winner not a quitter
I'm a winner, never quit, na-na-na-na
I′ve been living out a ditch, I done seen a lot of shit
But I won′t ever ever quit, na-na-na-na"
Why are we still living this way? (Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah)
Why are we still living this way? (Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah)
Why are we still living this way? (Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah)
Why are we still living this way? (Oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah, oh-ah)
You wanna give in, 'cause your road is rough
You wanna give in, ′cause your road is rough
Just keep telling yourself that you won't give up
Just keep telling yourself that you won′t give up
You don't have a home, you got no place to go
But you still gotta hold your head hi-i-i-i-igh
You giving up hope at the end of your road
Just keep sending them prayers to the sky-y-y-y-y
You can′t give up, give up on life
Even though you living through the homeless life
I know it gets tough, when it's rough gotta fight
