I cringe as the sun hits me
Beats the lids of bloodshot eyes
I stretch my arms and yawn widely
Rolling over to see the sky
Sitting up, I look around me
Calling out, there′s no reply
On a raft and slowly drifting
Only sea, no land in sight

Suddenly, the waves stop lapping
Now the sea mirrors the sky
Where, above, the dark forms roll in
And, below my vessel, fly
Day by day I'm losing sunlight
Night by night, I′m losing stars
Drifting further, into darkness
To the place where the spirits are


But then, a light starts gleaming
And a voice says come back home
I'm stepping away from the edge
I'm stepping away from the edge
I′m stepping away from the edge
From this brink

When I′m lost
You drag me back home
Like an anchor to the shore
Keep me safe within your harbour
Pull me back from the ocean's jaws
And, although I′m slowly sinking
You'll come along to bail me out
And, when the storms hurtle towards me
You′re the ones who kill my doubts

Now picture this, a wreck, an island
Oh my God, I've done it again
Ripped up my map, threw out my compass
And was surprised when things went bad
Day by day, the sand gets sharper
Night by night, more beasts appear
I′ll light a fire and pray for rescue
From this place of death and fear
