The Tale of Scalliwag Joe Songtext

He was a hideous man
Small, yet a menacing man
Feared at sea and trouble at land
And they called him Scalliwag Joe

He would steal from a penniless bloke
He′d fool the cunningest folk
Naught but curses whenever he spoke
What a brute, that Scalliwag Joe

He was notorious for
Always hungering more
Riches of all the faraway shores
Not enough for Scalliwag Joe

An ancient tale of a treasure of gold
Worth more than you ever could know
Stashed away in the Dead Man's Cove
Was the fate of Scalliwag Joe

One day he opened his eyes
Heart set for the ultimate prize
Raging seas and the thundering skies
Didn′t frighten Scalliwag Joe

He sailed out straight into the storm
A flash of light, and then he was gone
No one saw him from that day on
So much for Scalliwag Joe

'Til this day his story's been told
Though it′s not ever told as a whole
There′s a secret that no one knows
That was haunting Scalliwag Joe

You see, I was the one that he loved
Yearned for, and never forgot
He chose to break his own heart
To become the Scalliwag Joe

That's the tale of Scalliwag Joe
No one misses Scalliwag Joe
So much for Scalliwag Joe
That′s the tale of Scalliwag Joe
