All Along the Watchtower Songtext
von Axel Rudi Pell

All Along the Watchtower Songtext

"There must be some kind of way out
of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There′s too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None were level on the mind, nobody offered his word."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we′ve been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour's getting late, hey!"

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Well outside in the cold distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching now, and the wind began to howl, hey!
