Dibnah Songtext
von The Lancashire Hotpots

Dibnah Songtext

He were born and raised in Bolton
An honest steeplejack
The hardest working bloke in′t north
A giant in a flatcap
He weren't one for health and safety
And I worshipped him as a child
Cos he′d climb a 200 foot chimney
After drinking 5 pints of mild

His name were Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah
Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah

With chimneys and traction engines
He'd graft and sweat and toil
He were like your dad or grandad
Tinkering in his shed, getting covered in oil
They'd send fer him from all over
And we′d watch him on our screens
And from the top of all them chimneys
What must he have seen?

His name was Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah
Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah

And we dont have chimneys anymore
Cos we dont have factories anymore
No
We dont have chimneys anymore
Cos we dont have factories anymore

In 2004 he left us
And I think I must′ve cried
Cos on that day, when he passed away
Part of our heritage died

They called him Fred Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah
Dibnah
They called him Fred Dibnah
And they don't make ′em like that anymore
No, they don't make ′em like him anymore
No, they don't make ′em like that anymore
No they don't make 'em like him anymore
