Old Ties Songtext

Old Ties Songtext
Some times I need to get
Out of the way of my self
Not all my beliefs
Will lead me to the promise land
I wished upon a star
And that star wasn′t a star at all
So many people are wishing
Upon it and wondering
If and when it will be
Let's
Talk infinity
Wise words my old friend
Knowledge is universal
Got out my way
I had some soul food to make
And I know that it powers me
It′s an appetite
For life why would
I wanna ration it
Or act irrational
What's the Q tell me coach
Do you know the next play
I'd really like know
I thought I heard the whistle
So I ran around in circles
What′s another option
Is it obvious poking
Holes in my armor
Cause it use to be Ominous
Sweet child there′s no monsters
Hiding in the garden
No goblins trying to gobble you like
A omelette
I won't let that happen
Though i do know there was a time
When i was terrified
Little boy tried to survive
Through a smile and a laugh
And only after the sudden
Thunder would mother father
Make an appearance
And I can see how clear it is
That my past self
Formed a safe place for me then
But as for now
Get up out the way
You don′t really know the way
Still love you though
You can probably find a better way
You can get out the way
Get up out the way
You don't really know the way
Still love you though
You can probably find a better way
You can get out the way
There I go day tripping
Once again
It must be the potency
Of my memories
I dig them up
All way down to the roots
Cause if I leave a little
Then it might grow back
Even a microscopic piece
Can ease its ways in to my daily life
And I don′t need that stress
So I cut those old ties good bye
For now good luck
And i hope you do well
So many miles feet touch
Ground to walk upon
Now earth changes
Weather your here to
Participate or not
I'm star dust skin tone
The color of rust
A row of dominos
Set up in the figure of 8
Never will it lose its balance
No debate
Now it′s time all chakras Align
The highly anticipated
Out of incubation
Came a sign of greatness
Innovative in a way
That fascinated
The tip of the tongue
Empowered compassion
It gives me the strength
To stand up and say
Get up out the way
You don't really know the way
I still love you though
You can probably find a better way
You can get out the way
Get up out the way
You don't really know the way
I still love you though
You can probably find a better way
You can get out the way
If the shoe didn′t fit
Why would I
Want to wear it
Cause I would rather have tight
Shoes on then be embarrassed
Shame filled up my child hood
Like a downpour
Parents never had no money
Yeah for Niks
And 3 tripes would have
Been out of the question
So I got hand me downs
From friends that I wouldn′t fit in
I didn't mind a couple blisters
At lest they paid for the band-aides
That′s what I told my self
Though now check it
I remember walking through the hallway
Stopping by the nurses office
So that I could grab a free band-aide
To scared to ask dad for one to use
He could blow a fuse
Or a gasket then momma blame me
More shame to fill my bucket up
Still I wonder if one day
It will be easier to breathe
Oh the mysteries
That i seek within my mind
And the voices
I hear some times
I need to remind my self to
Get up out the way
You don't really know the way
I still love you though
You can probably find a better way
You can get out the way
Get up out the way
You don′t really know the way
I still love you though
