The Story’s Been Told Songtext
Born in the Rotunda, weighed ten pound one
Had a head like football, my ten months were done
I′d a clean slate to start with, a life to compose
The adventure was waiting to come
The 80's in Dublin were a miserable place
There wasn′t much money, or jobs you could chase
Two buses to nanny's each Sunday we'd take
Became the highlight of our week
Now the story′s been told through the smiles and the tears
From the moment we′re born, 'til the end of our years
We′re working our whole lives until we get old
But I'll see you again when the story′s been told
Moved house many times, went to different schools
Made lots of friends, some nice and some fools
No we didn't have iPhones, we played in the fields
Was the only thing that we could do
Now the story′s been told through the smiles and the tears
From the moment we're born, 'til the end of our years
We′re working our whole lives until we get old
But I′ll see you again when the story's been told
When you′re sheltered your whole life from death and from pain
The first one you lose is so hard to contain
All the fire that's inside you begins to enflame
It was always just the way it′s meant to be
You live and you learn the most valuable things
The choices you made can play on your heart strings
I'll tell you you′re lucky to have all that you do
Stop complaining you weight more than most
Now the story's been told through the smiles and the tears
From the moment we're born, ′til the end of our years
We′re working our whole lives until we get old
But I'll see you again when the story′s been told
Now the story's been told through the smiles and the tears
From the moment we′re born, 'til the end of our years
We′re working our whole lives until we get old
But I'll see you again when the story's been told
There′s no more to tell when the story′s been told
Had a head like football, my ten months were done
I′d a clean slate to start with, a life to compose
The adventure was waiting to come
The 80's in Dublin were a miserable place

There′s no more to tell when the story′s been told
