Venus of the Essoldo Songtext

Venus of the Essoldo Songtext

In a town in the south
Where the working men
Dish up the bars of spice
When I feel all right
On a movie night
Slumped in my seat
Numb to my feet
Till a girl comes along
And they strike up a song
Something I knew when I
Had the sap in my veins
And a horse at the reins
She made me feel
Like it was real
Venus of the Essolde
I would wend my way to Rome
But the ground, it crumbles behind me
As I watch you go home
With a thorn in my side
And a sailor′s eye

I can remember when
If they called me out
When it was shout
Head in the air
I would be there
How I ache sometimes
Now I scrawl there rhythms
Nod to the younger guys
Cos I sometimes see
How I used to be
She made me feel
Like it was real
Venus of the Essolde
I would wend my way to Rome
But the chances crumbles behind me
And I watched you go home.
Venus of the Essolde
I would wend my way to Rome
But the chances crumbles behind me
As I watch you go home.
