The Sing Medley: Sing a Song / Tomorrow / Matchmaker, Matchmaker Songtext
Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud, sing out strong
Sing of good things, not bad
Sing of happy, not sad
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple
To last your whole life long
Don′t worry if it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just sing, sing a song
At around the same time, I was doing a lot of work
And large musicals
In the Philippines there is a huge musical theatre community and following
And at nine years old, I had my first lead role
The sun will come out, tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow, there′ll be sun
Just thinkin' about, tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
'Til there′s none
When I′m stuck with the day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say, oh
The sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on ′til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
You're only a day away
But before I was Annie
I was in the chorus
Roles that a Filipino may not normally be up for over here
You were perfect for over there
Because there was no such thing as type casting
Everybody was the same type
Asian
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Make me a match
Find me a find
Catch me a catch
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Look through your book
And make me a perfect match
For Papa
Make him a scholar
For mama
Make him rich as a king
For me, well
I wouldn′t holler
If he were as handsome as anything, boy
Matchmaker, Matchmaker
Plan me no plans
I'm in no rush
Maybe I′ve learned
Playing with matches
A girl can get burned
So
Bring me no ring
Groom me no groom
Find me no find
Catch me no catch
Unless he's a matchless match
Some times though, the casting is a bit traditional
My first show was actually The king and I
Now that I think about it, they do that show a lot in the Phillipines
I was about seven
My cousin told my mom that she should take me to the audition
But I didn't have a monologue
So I put my hand up like this
The girl scout promise
On my honour, I will do my duty to God and my country
To help people at all times, and to live by the girl scout law
The girl scout law
A girl scouts honour is to be trusted, a girl scout′s loyal
A girl scout is helpful, a girl scout is a friend to all and any other girl scout
A girl scout is courteous, a girl scout respects living things
A girl scout is disciplined, a girl scout is self-reliant
A girl scout is thrifty, and girl scout is clean, thought, word and deed
I screamed to my mother at the back of the house
"How did I do?"
She ducked, embarrassed, and then she smiled
Sing out loud, sing out strong
Sing of good things, not bad
Sing of happy, not sad
Sing, sing a song
Make it simple
To last your whole life long
Don′t worry if it's not good enough
