Laputa - (Nai Palm) Commentary Songtext

Laputa - (Nai Palm) Commentary Songtext
With the song "Laputa"
Uh, it was triggered from a idea that Bender
Showed me in the studio that was just a loop
And then it went from there
I really love uhm, Hayao Miyazaki
Uh, Studio Ghibli films
My favourite is "Princess Mononoke"
They′re magical but they're very, they′re very human and moral and uhm, political
Put in a really nurturing way, I really admire that about Miyazaki's work
And the film scores are always really cinematic
And quite often when we're checking or when we′re writing I try to
Write from a visual standpoint, so
He′s-he's-he′s definitely a massive influence, musically, even though they're films
So I found out that he retired recently, and uhm
Bender had sequenced uh, just like a synth sound idea that Simon was playing with
And he sequenced it and when he showed it to me, uhm
It sounded like the scene from "Laputa", which is one of Miyazaki′s films
Where there's like a floating castle in the sky and there′s a garden in the sky
That is tended to by these like giant, gentle robots
And the sound, it s-, like visually, I just naturally went there when I heard it
And because he recently retired I wanted to write to it, uhm
Kind of as a tribute to him and his work
So the f-, the origin, like the start of, of the song is like an introduction to his artistry
