A lampshade broke when it fell to the floor
As if the house didn′t already need cleaning
An angry neighbor walked in through the door
Our stupid dog had snuck into their kitchen again
On top of this we need to be back in the city well before bedtime
Tomorrow's school and this carefree weekend wasn′t ours for free
And it can't last forever
He looks at his watch, then at us in dismay
His face has gotten red
He says "It's too fucking late"

The head of the family switches on the blue lights
Demanding that we consider the weight of his sacrifice
No idle hands, we all need to help out
To keep the head of the family from having to lose his mind


Engine is running, he doesn′t even say buckle up
He gets quiet when he regrets having us
Sky high blood pressure and he can′t really cry
And he can't have his beer until tonight
After the drive back to the city

Tomorrow there′s school
We'll rise with the rooster
This carefree weekend won′t last forever
