Well I never paid attention when I was a young boy,
To the great instructions from the ones who came before me,
But now that I′m older I long to pay attention,
But it doesn't seem like anyone is saying much of anything,

Well there′s a piece of me that loves all this sadness,
That loves for onlookers to call me tragic,
But buried underneath all the women and the booze,
Is a man that I know who's ashamed at what I choose,


Well I believe in God,
And I believe he wants me to believe in me,

So what's it gonna take to make this stop,
And what I gotta do to know I′ve got,
All the strength inside my bones,
To let it go,
To let it drop,
