Devil's Son Songtext

Devil's Son Songtext
The night I was born, there was a storm like none the town had seen
And up in the clouds was a face and the town swore it looked like me
I got a guitar when I was eight years old, I knew it was no toy
It was a tool of the devil, and it was instrumental to the nature of this boy
I grew up fast with my guitar and I knew what had to be done
Make a deal with the devil like Kurt and Elvis, I screamed, "Where do I sign?"
All of a sudden a girl appeared, she said, "Here, come drink this wine"
Sure enough I drank and shot up now it′s ten years down the line
Ten years down the line, ten years down the line
Ten years down the line, it was ten years down the line
Just when I thought my life was over, I woke up in the mud
And over there kind of dark in the corner I thought I seen someone
Well, it was cold and it was dark and I could barely see
But the face I seen looked dark and colder and it looked a lot like me
He said, "Sorry, son, you came all this way to try and sell your soul
But to be quite frank, I'm your daddy, you can′t sell me soul I already own
If you wanna make a deal with your dear old dad, I will see if I can pull some strings
Get your ass up out of that mud, meet me in Nashville, Tennessee"
I was born in the badlands, raised by the bad hands, evil in my blood
You mess with me, you best watch out
'Cause you're messin′ with the devil′s son
Messin' with the devil′s son, messin' with the devil′s son
Messin' with the devil′s son, don't you mess with the devil's son
Well, I got up on out that mud, went to Nashville, Tennessee
Sure enough, when I showed up there was someone waiting for me
I said, "Hey there mister, Bob Wayne′s the name and I′m here to meet someone"
He said, "I know, son, I'm a friend of your dad′s, I smell the evil in your blood"
He said, "Follow me downtown, Bob Wayne, and I'll show you around
Don′t you worry about who knows who, your daddy owns this town"
Well, I up and went down to the studio of sin
Up on the wall was pictures of all four of the Highwaymen
He said, "Hey, Bob Wayne, you're the devil′s boy and you're his prodigy"
Then he hit record on this big old board, said, "Boy, let me hear you sing"
I was born in the badlands, raised by the bad hands, evil in my blood
You mess with me, you best watch out
'Cause you′re messin′ with the devil's son
Messin′ with the devil's son, messin′ with the devil's son
