The paint on the house has faded to brown
All the horses gone wild since the barn burned to the ground
And while some of our dreams may never come around
You still look like an angel when you wear that blue gown

Confetti still blows on South Street
Where we heard the famous toast
The words of which I don′t recall
Or what we drank to the most


But we'll pull up the stakes
And roll up the lines
We can make our break, so let it all ride
Take what you want and leave the rest aside
It′s all we can take on this carnival ride

There's a pain that I try to hide
But I know it so well
To feel you cold by my side
And secrets that I can't tell

All the while we play along
And the time keeps rolling on
For miles and for days
