Back in ′89 I shared a cell upstate
With a man that had a record that was awful lengthy.
He told me about a kid he knew from selling dope
And how he killing him in a field and left him all alone.


It's the same, and nothing′s changed.

Back in '99 I shared a cell in county
With a man awaiting trial 'cause he killed his family.
All he ever talked about was playing cards.
He never seemed to care to much about the pain he caused.
