Allotment Song Songtext

Allotment Song Songtext

He sows his seeds in rows
′Cause that's the way his father′s father showed him how
To grow his beans real tall
To share evenly the goodness of the soil

And I for one just can't wait
For the spring

He found a few broken bricks
An old window pane, some twine and a couple of sticks
With which he sheltered his tommies from the cold
'Cause tommies are Jack Frost′s favourite fruit of all

And I for one just can′t wait
For the spring

He built himself an effigy of The Queen
From two broom handles, some rags and a paper crown
That he found and tied some bells to to keep
The rabbits from his carrots and the blackbirds from his seeds

And I for one just can't wait
For the spring

And he pours himself his midday cup of tea
From his Thermos, it′s English, it's strong, it′s sugary
With a little milk that's stored in a clever pot
That hides beneath the lid that′s also a plastic cup

And I for one just can't wait
Yes I for one just can't wait
I for one just can′t wait

For the spring
