Well, my mama read a story from the Bible long ago
About Shadrach, Meshach, and old Abednego
How the wicked king commanded they be thrown into the flame
Because they would not bow and then deny their Father′s name
Mama said the king stood high upon a balcony so tall
When he looked in, he was shocked by all the things he saw
Because he thought that he would find them lying dead upon the ground
But instead of three he counted four up walking all around
Then I said "Mama, wait a minute, there's one thing that I must know
If three went in and three came out, then where′d that fourth man go?"
And I never will forget it, Mama danced across the floor
These are the words I heard her say while shouting through the door
She said, He's still in the fire, and He's walking in the flame
And He′ll be there to help you when you call upon his name
And he can still deliver by His almighty power
While here below, it′s good to know He's still in the fire

Well, we've had some wonderful folks here
Who helped us in our singing down through these many years
We want to say thanks to every one of them
Some of them are here tonight
They have come in for this special reunion time
And they′d be singing some of their favorite songs
That they used to do with us years ago, and you're gonna get to meet them as they sing
Well, we also have some third generation Speers
That have helped us down through the years
Brother Ben sons, Steve and Darin Speer
My daughter Suzan and my two sons, Marc and Brian Speer
They′ve all helped us out, and they're third generation Speers
And we want to say thanks for the contribution that they have made to the group
I don′t know which one might take the group and go with it after we're gone
Whether either any of them will or not
They have stopped to go to school and raise families and so on
But anyway our thanks to them
Well, here's the group coming back around to sing for you again
And this is another old Dad Speer song, he was our first songwriter
And here′s my favorite of all the 600 songs I guess that he wrote in his lifetime
This is my favorite, came out of 1939, Heaven
