Today is the day I go out to meet the guy
For job potential number one
I read that there description before I applied
And I′ve got what it takes to get it done
The pay is great, the location's fine, the job is really swell
And the job and I can grow in the long run
Reading it all, again and again, I had a big smile on my face
And thought aloud, "At last I′ve finally won"

So I dress well, I ate well
I got there really early
Said a nice prayer before leaving the car
I got to the office, met the guy
Shook his hand and gave a smile
He talked, I talked and this is how it went...

For job potential number two
I read that there description before I applied
And I've got what it takes to see it through
The pay's ample, the location decent and the job is standard fare
There wasn′t much I already didn′t knew
But the job was really narrow and its future seemed really short
But a job's a job and at least I′ll get my due

So I dress well, I ate well
I got there nice and early
Said a quick prayer before leaving the car
I got to the office, met the gal
Shook her hand and gave a smile
She talked, I talked and this is how it went...

I read that there description and was reluctant to apply
But I did it all the same... at least it was free
The pay is downright lousy... it's like going back in time
And the job itself... it reeks of stupidity
To tell you the honest truth, I felt insulted by the job
So why apply? Well the job wasn′t that far from me


So I dress well, I ate all right
I got there... in the nick of time
Said a quick prayer before leaving the car
I got to the office, no one was there
No hand to shake but I gave a smile
At the front desk... and this is how it went...
