A Sailor's Lament Songtext

A poor man cloaked in paper with words of unrest
Was woken by the song of a bird in her nest
Perched high above the sorrows of men and of kings
She tended to her young in the shield of her wings
Gazing down on a world that was shaded in gray
No one noticed the man where he lay

Rising up from the bench as he greeted the morn
Still with hope in his heart from a past that was torn
Nothing left but his swag and the blue memory
Of his love who was lost on the sea

Crying out through the town for his voice to be heard
Though the only one listening to him was a bird
Please find me my lover, please find me my friend
How I long for her in my arms again

Fly high
Spread your wings until the wind lifts our souls into the sky
Fly high
Tell my lover I could never say goodbye

With a tear in his eye he longs for the past
For the day they made vows for their love that would last
In the warmth of the evening they ran young and free
And they waltzed till the sun kissed the sea

From out of the shadows a woman appears
In the place where her lover once lived many years
All remained was a headstone engraved with the phrase
I loved you for all of my days
Fly high, fly high, fly high, fly high, fly high
