Drinking from the River Songtext
von Steven Adams

Drinking from the River Songtext

Like an animal in a sack
With your paws behind your back at the cash register

You could be a coward if that's what it takes
You know everyone makes mistakes. It's what you tell yourself everyday

And if you start scratching your mark on the walls
Because that activity no longer enthralls. Something else will have taken its place

Drinking from the river
Until it runs dry

You're howling at the moon
And you don't know why

Two fingers up at the law
One chosen carefully from each paw, for maximum impact

We see you out spraying the lamposts and trees every evening before you sleep
It's the twilight piss patrol

Drinking from the river
Until it runs dry

Howling at the moon
And you don't know why

When you forget where you buried your bone
You go digging for another one further from home
All night

You're still howling at the moon
And you don't know why

Sometimes you need to rest for a while

It takes time to catch you up but it wears you out and now you need to rest for a while

Like an animal on a chain
Let your neck take the worst of the strain, when you're losing your sense of place

You could be a coward and no one would know
But the dancing lion at the end of the show. Or what you tell yourself every day

Drinking from the river
Until it runs dry

Howling at the moon
And you don't know why

When you forget where you buried your bone, you go digging for another one further from home. All night

You're still howling at the moon
And you don't know why

You're still howling at the moon
And you don't know why

You're still howling at the moon
And you don't know why
