Sticks And Stones Songtext

I listen out for lines that comfort me
So that I know I′m not so strange
Hear them sung and song
And they really spare me on to continue with my day

Radio on, I dance around and sing
While I wait for the pot to boil
Bet you're somewhere warm, you got a cherry in your drink
You′re being taken by a smile

Oh, there used to be a river here
I don't know where the water went, must be bricked up somewhere
I try walking to the end, I get too far from home, it's only an indent
And driftwood could be finer than any of your art
Did you think that when you saw me?
At night, I go where rubbish blows, people leave me alone
Collecting sticks and cans and stones

I have done my research
I′ve read all the books
There is water rising
And I′m clearing its path

And I know all about history
I once went and did a degree
And I know that we all make the same mistakes
There's patterns there for me
And there is still time to bring it back around
But I feel it′s too hard to start
With my TV on and my curtains drawn
With my sticks and my stones
I'm building an art

I have done my research
I′ve read all the books
There is water rising
And I'm clearing its path

I listen out for lines that comfort me
So that I know I′m not so strange
Hear them song and song
And they really spare me on to continue with my day
