Sound and Silence Songtext
von Skye Peterson
Sound and Silence Songtext
My choir director was harsh but
It made him the perfect teacher
By waving a wand, he took folks
Who could sing and he made them singers
I didn′t enjoy it that much
But some things that he said really stuck
He said music is sound and silence
Sound and silence
Paid too much for coffee to go
And I wandered the lonely city
I decided that I had grown deaf or
that God just gave up on speaking
It felt like a permanent pause
But I think it was part of the song
One half of the sound and silence
Sound and silence
Head in hands, I have sobbed on a pew
To the sound of an empty church
Where the echo of Sunday's song died
Leaving silence too deep for words
But every beautiful song has a break
Every pause holds a meaningful place
And it sears when the silence begins
But it sings when the choir comes again
Cause music is sound and silence
Sound and silence
It made him the perfect teacher
By waving a wand, he took folks
Who could sing and he made them singers
I didn′t enjoy it that much
But some things that he said really stuck
He said music is sound and silence
Sound and silence
Paid too much for coffee to go
And I wandered the lonely city
I decided that I had grown deaf or
that God just gave up on speaking
It felt like a permanent pause
But I think it was part of the song
One half of the sound and silence
Sound and silence
Head in hands, I have sobbed on a pew
To the sound of an empty church
Where the echo of Sunday's song died
Leaving silence too deep for words
But every beautiful song has a break
Every pause holds a meaningful place
And it sears when the silence begins
But it sings when the choir comes again
Cause music is sound and silence
Sound and silence
