Jephtha: Act II, Scene 1. "Glad tidings of great joy to thee, dear Iphis" Songtext
Glory be to God, all love together!
Glory be to God, all love together!
Glorious things are told us o′er the ages been
Yet sometimes our fathers' wisdom they forget
Ah!
For us to find such things as these again
And tell their stories unto our children′s ears
But first let us sing how Israel did fight with Ammon's great
Army there by the Jordan's tide; how their brave men stood there
Against so mighty an host, and how their God with them did side
Then onward went from thence they victoriously till at last they
Found a place where lie in wait for night another army came: And when
It was come thither that great assembly of men our Israel made ready
Array for battle again: So now let us tell these things in brief
