The Barren Waste Songtext
von Richard Murray
The Barren Waste Songtext
Ragged dog paws the plain
Of his home out in the rain
Watching me rolling over stony ground
Theres kids out in the valley
Still brownbagging in the alleys
Warms my heart to see them hanging round
Not washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
Take us from these times we′ve known
Take us on the long road home
I just need some time face to face
Oh take us from here this barren waste
Wire mother takes her toll
Crawls into our young souls
With life to take and life to teach
All the crystal clear confusion
The raw heart of a revolution
In your palm and always out of reach
We're washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
Thieves move in the shadows
Then flash like Vegas arrows
With a promise of life beyond just being born
With snake oil thick and sweet
For creatures sick and weak
And infants from their very arms torn
We could all just take our chances
Go on their merry merry dances
But we′ve been too well-worn by the storm
And washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
Of his home out in the rain
Watching me rolling over stony ground
Theres kids out in the valley
Still brownbagging in the alleys
Warms my heart to see them hanging round
Not washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
Take us from these times we′ve known
Take us on the long road home
I just need some time face to face
Oh take us from here this barren waste
Wire mother takes her toll
Crawls into our young souls
With life to take and life to teach
All the crystal clear confusion
The raw heart of a revolution
In your palm and always out of reach
We're washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
Thieves move in the shadows
Then flash like Vegas arrows
With a promise of life beyond just being born
With snake oil thick and sweet
For creatures sick and weak
And infants from their very arms torn
We could all just take our chances
Go on their merry merry dances
But we′ve been too well-worn by the storm
And washed out in the flood
Wheels spinning in the mud
