I was born at 6 a.m.
On my mother′s birthday
My family bought a big house
By the coast
I guess I was luckier than most

Got a brother and a sister
Both a few years older
Dad wrote for a paper
Mom stayed home with me

I guess we all felt pretty free
Everything just came so easily
And how beautiful life can be

We had a big leafy garden
Wider than the world
It was out there I first started noticing
Winter turning into spring


Lying in my mother's arms
Out there on the patio
Falling asleep to the sound of bees

Underneath the crooked apple trees
Shaded by their giant leaves
