Left Behind Songtext

Left Behind Songtext

I knew a girl now, she was, long and tall
Slept in the kitchen with her feet out in the hall
And she never did too much talkin′, always thought that was my fault
Lookin' back tht must have been just somethin′ crazy I was taught...

Well I ain't spoken to her here in, quite some time
And the years just pass on by like that scenery outside
But'll, I can′t buy back them, things I left behind

I knew a man know, he taught me a few songs
In the porchlight he would sing and then he would nod off
And′ll I still sing them songs now, that I was taught
And it creeps just like some criminal now back into my thoughts...

He use to write me letters know, when he was feelin' clean
Till he slipped into a darkness, never to be retrieved
Well know, I can′t buy back them, things I left behind
No now I can't buy back them, things I left behind

I always have been quick at leaving kind
I never was the sort now to be left behind
I could, pack up everything that I, thought was mine
And be gone before the ink upon that letter had dried

Say my pockets full of holes, I′ve seen my pockets full of gold
I've got some beautiful possesions, livin′ on pawn shop windows
But'll, I can't buy back them, things I left behind
No now I can′t buy back them, things I left behind
