the last postcard 03:58 Songtext

Hey, it′s Oscar
I hope you're ok
This is the last time I′m writing you
I mean, not in a, not in a dark way
It's just the last trip of the year
I'm going home now

At the beginning of this year
I decided to meet artists
And write music in a new country every month
From this, I wrote 10 songs
This was by far the most exciting, challenging, and tiring thing I′ve ever done
After spending my entire life writing music in my bedroom
I, I wanted to go out and explore
I guess I also wanted to find people like me
Who loved music as much as I do

Growing up in Paris, studying in private schools
I never had friends pushing me in that direction
And the only people I met doing music told me to sing in French
But I don′t know anything about French music
I never did

I remember falling in love with music
After watching Robbie Williams play Knebworth on YouTube
After dancing over this Fatboy Slim CD I found in the closet
Or after my dad played Satisfaction for me and my best friend in the car
From then, it was just me and the music I found on the internet
I learned guitar in my room, by playing some songs I liked
I recorded my first song on my computer after class
And shot a video with my camera
This is what music was and still is for me
I never had anyone to ask for advice
And I never asked for it
Yet I needed to
And that's why I left

Over the year
I made some new friends and I lost some
I′ve been happy so many times and sad all the time
I drank coconut water and ate pastrami sandwiches
I smiled a lot and cried once
I heard some good songs and bad ones
I drove an old bmw and took the subway
I wore a beanie and walked barefoot
I broke my guitar and I found you
And that's why I′m going home now

I'll see you soon
Oscar
