Shadows scheme and shadows contemplate
How they′re gonna cover up their fate
But they're no match for this boy of nine
And the lens through which he magnifies their lives

Through an open crittall window frame
Playing telescope moonlight games
A faceless empty suited man he spies
The apple cheeked girl and the cut glass wives

Up above on the rooftops
Swirling round
Horizontal and vertical
He sweeps the sky
Shining the light of truth into the void

All the shapes they made obscured the truth
So, he sought to get a better view
The horizon fell behind the town
Lost behind streets, he scaled down, down, down


The closer that he got the less he saw
And the calm mechanical small talk
Killed his senses and enforced the fear
That he′d grow up never knowing what was real
