Vengeance Songtext

Vengeance Songtext

As the farmer leaves to till the fields
The horsemen gather slowly
And human envy draws its sword
As the bandits near the closing
And the untrained eye never saw the spy
On the hillside softly dreaming
To the sound of birds and the gentle waters
Drowning out the screaming

As the man returned to the smoking ruin
He saw without comprehension
What manner of beast could do this thing
With no thought of apprehension?
As the meaning came flowing through his veins
Was a rage unknown to him
And he swore on his life and his murdered wife
His vengeance would be blazing

As he passed a fair in the market square
A trinket his eye fell upon
The seller was a fella that he knew quite well
And he asked him where it was from
He said a band of men had sold it on
As they moved away from the town
And the farmer nodded as he saw her ring
And he swore that he′d hunt them down

As the farmer leaves to sow new fields
The ghosts will never leave him
Nine of the men who killed his love
For he hunted them with cunning
And the tenth is his wife who lost her life
For her man, he could not save her
Older now and stooped he walks
With the weight of their souls on his shoulder
