Transpennine Songtext

Transpennine Songtext

The train was Transpennine
My pen was out of ink
There was someone needed saving
At the bottom of a drink

Sat next to a devil
As Tameside shuffled past
He asked me where I was going
I said the next stop is my last

The coach is kind of northbound
I′m facing somewhere south
The future is behind me
Ain't got nothing figured out

We roll by terraced houses
At the speed of a summer night
The silhouette of a hollow boy
Pulls a rope around the light

My feet are tired of being feet
My hands hate being hands
Columns ache beneath a life well lived
In the rows of no man′s land

I found a bullet trailer
Parked underneath a bridge
A crusty guy pokes out his head
And asked me to come in

He brought me hot poppy tea
And McVities on a little plate
I called my executioner
Said I might be a little late

The coach is kind of northbound
I'm facing somewhere south
My future is behind me
Ain't got nothing figured out
