Battle Songtext
von Marcie Mycroft

Battle Songtext

I got started in the ring
And I pushed myself till I was stick thin
I just wanted to let them in
So I was someone

And the bruises on my skin
Misadventure, I let it in
I had something to which I could cling
I was someone

I went up with an image of sin
I fell down when you went away
I went down to the parlor
Took off my clothes, it begins

Maybe I can be someone else
But I wanted to find out for myself
Learning the lessons in my life
Was it always a battle with my youth?

And you hit me and I took it
I was floating, there were choices
I escaped into my head
Like it was nothing

For a shy girl I was rich
I came on without a stitch
Was I brave as a trooper or kitsch?
It was something

I came back for a curtain call
When I was sleeping with endorphins and wine
Like a drug you were toxic
Take me to the party again

Maybe I can be someone else
But I wanted to find out for myself
Learning the lessons in my life
Wasn′t always a battle with my youth

And maybe I can be someone else
But I wanted to find out for myself
Learning the lessons in my life
Wasn't always a battle with my youth
Wasn′t always a battle for the truth
