i′m giving in to christmas
and to hopes for the new year
i close my eyes to worries
for the future that we share

and shut my mind from knowing
of the troubles everywhere
i'm giving in to christmas
dialing down the old despair

there is hope in plastic snowflakes
sprayed across a mistletoe
and i send a thought to everyone
both to family and foe


i used to have an attitude
but i′ve had a change of heart
one long hard stare in the mirror
was the perfect place to start

at christmas time we slow our minds
and treat ourselves with care
it's christmas time
and i'm in a christmas state of mind

so i write another christmas song
for family and friends
just like every greedy artist
i try to cash in on a trend
