I loved his sky-blue eyes
Those cold November days
He′d walk across the field
And I could see his breath
And I swear I heard his heart
Beating inside his chest

And those nights spent in two-horse towns
Pick-up trucks and country bars
Those nights were like blankets
Like movies

Well I loved this cowboy
More than I should admit
More than I knew was right
But I got real used to it
I would go out ridin'
For two weeks at a time
And I knew the only lonely heart
Was never his, only mine

When I thought about it
Some loves are compromise
