Seasons Songtext

Seasons Songtext

The cold night draws in at the start of the year
Smoke from the ashes of holiday cheer
But it′s February soon
When the paycheck comes early
And the Oscar-y movies get put on the telly
So you can have some opinions by the night of the awards
And you remember a big coat you own
Under the bed in a drawer
You're gonna wear that for sure

The rains, they persist as the weeks hurry past
You ruin your trainers when you walk on the grass
But soon the nights will lighten and here is the thing, though
A lot of big movies come out in the spring, so
You get a gang together for the spoilerific ones
Put the big coat in a drawer and forget it
For another ten months

Plans for bank holiday have been overlooked
We were going to get away but left it too late to book
But there′s always next year
So no need to fear!
Twelve months is not enough for a year's worth of time
I'm trying to fit it in, going out of my mind
When the seasons rush through you at the speed of light

The pollen comes up as the earth starts to bake
There′s no games out in June, so head outside to take
Photos of fields and of things that are alive
Though you lost your sunglasses and the sun′s in your eyes
So you have a little headache, or it could be the booze
How could it be that there are so many colours
And all I get is the blues?

The year's halfway done and what have I got to show?
A lot of receipts and no personal growth
But maybe it′s allowed
To not live in the now
If you always have something to look forward to
Whatever comes next could be what gets you through
When the seasons rush through you with the speed of light
Is it any wonder?
I said, is it any wonder that I'm never dressed right?
