This was the first show that Lynn and Steve wrote together
And it was never produced
And I can tell them, "Why?"
They wrote the show, and then, they appl-, um
Applied to get the rights to do the show

And they did not get the rights
Until subsequently, they′ve learned to always get the rights
First before they write a show


Anyway, actually, I remember back in 1983
I sat in the last roll of a BMI workshop
And I heard three songs from "Bedazzled"
And I remember saying to the
The person next to me, I was like, "Who wrote these songs?"

And they said, "Oh, it's a new songwriting team
Ahrens and Flaherty"
And I thought to myself
"I want to work with them someday"
And here I am, you know
