I was older when I first saw fireflies
Lighting up reeds like the prayers left behind our eyes
They glow and glow and glow
Without apologizing
It was then I started dreaming of marine life
And all the possibilities if I could bend the light
With auric gestures luminating tree lines
The whispers drew
We were the last sign
They saw that night

Wake up and tell me who you dreamed of
I was your whale cry
I was your lightning dove
I know you′re terrified

Once you were wondrous

One day they promise the light in us will leave here
Say things that will make me want to stay for the remainder
Our effervescent thoughts on forever
Last long enough for us
