The Lonely Man Songtext
von Kevin Lynch

The Lonely Man Songtext

Late one night in the pouring rain
Walked the lonely man
Homeless and haggard he woefully staggered
A bottle in his hand
No bills in his pocket, shaking and coughing
Slowly lifts his gaze
Empty hands passing yet he keeps on asking
Hoping for someone to change

La la la la la la

His wife and his children were sick of the thrills
Then left him as he fell
Ignoring the danger of addictive behavior
Making his way through hell
Give him a bottle and watch as he stumbles
Slipping day by day
"God won′t you save me, creator have mercy
I look to thee and pray."

La la la la la la

A part in the sky, the clouds passing by
Sunlight warms the man
Afraid of his own shadow, he hides 'round a corner
Trying to avoid the pain
Alone on the sidewalk, hugging his shoulders
Abandoned and afraid
A passing stranger offers him money and a place to stay

La la la la la la

Late one night in the pouring rain crawled the lonely man
Aware of his struggles in search of some more thrills
A fix to numb the pain
It was calling his name bringing the guilt, the shame
A bottle in his hand
Drowning in sorrow, no hope for tomorrow
Cried the lonely man

La la la la la la
La la la la la la
