What If Songtext

What If Songtext
I′m staring at the ceiling
My girl is next to me
My hunger for another life has disappeared
I've never been so happy
So safe so warm so free
I gotta get myself the hell away from here
She loves me in the morning
I hold her through the night
Sometimes she looks at me and I can barely breathe
She takes two steps forward
I take a few steps back
Why do I let my love become my enemy
What if I′ve no gift for prophecy
What if things work out in the end
What if I was slightly less assured
What if I let myself be loved by her
I am a storyteller
My brain goes straight to fear
It tells me 'turn back now there's danger up ahead′
It sees no silver linings
Only a mounting dread
How did anxiety become my daily bread
But then she laughs so deeply
Her smile an ocean wide
I feel a dawning joy I hope will never end
I stay for one more minute
One hour, one more day
My heart unlocks and my resistance starts to bend
What if I read too much philosophy
What if my brain is not my friend
What if I want the life in front of me
What if love could set me free to be
What if I have no gift for prophecy
What if things work out in the end
What if my worst fears they don′t come true
What if I don't lace up my running shoes
What if I let myself be loved by you
What if I let myself be loved by you
What if I let myself be loved
My girl is next to me
My hunger for another life has disappeared
I've never been so happy
So safe so warm so free
I gotta get myself the hell away from here
She loves me in the morning
I hold her through the night
Sometimes she looks at me and I can barely breathe
She takes two steps forward
I take a few steps back
Why do I let my love become my enemy
What if I′ve no gift for prophecy
What if things work out in the end
What if I was slightly less assured
What if I let myself be loved by her
I am a storyteller
My brain goes straight to fear
It tells me 'turn back now there's danger up ahead′
It sees no silver linings
Only a mounting dread
How did anxiety become my daily bread
But then she laughs so deeply
Her smile an ocean wide
I feel a dawning joy I hope will never end
I stay for one more minute
One hour, one more day
My heart unlocks and my resistance starts to bend
What if I read too much philosophy

What if I don't lace up my running shoes
What if I let myself be loved by you
What if I let myself be loved by you
What if I let myself be loved
