Roger Was a Mine Dog Songtext

Dear old Misty was a Labrador,
She had her puppies on the kitchen floor.
Oh oh.
One called Roger and one called Patch.
One called Rover and one called Satch.
Oh oh.
Poor little Roger was the runt of the litter,
He was always on his own.
All the other pups were stronger and fitter
And they all found a home.
Little Jimmy really cried the day
The soldiers came and took the dog away.
His dad said "Son I really think its best
′Cause he digs up the flowers and he's a pest".
Poor little roger was the runt of the litter
And he was so small and thin.
The solider said he′d be a good sniffer
To seek out the biscuit tin.
Roger was a mine dog, a fine dog so they say;
It was him that saved the skin

Of the one that gave him away.
Jimmy's daddy joined the infantry,
Doing his duty for his country.
Shotgun rider with a heavy load,
That truck was stopped on a lonely road.
There was Roger the runt of the litter
With his nose down in the ground;
The engineers dug and they all got the jitters
When they saw what he had found.
Roger was a mine dog, a fine dog so they say.
It was him that saved the skin
Of the one that gave him away.
Roger was a mine dog, a fine dog so they say.
It was him that saved the skin
Of the one that gave him away.
Roger was a mine dog, a fine dog so they say.
It was him that saved the skin
Of the one that gave him away.
Roger was a mine dog, a fine dog so they say.
It was him that saved the skin
Of the one that gave him away.
Roger (Roger), he was a mine dog. (Mine dog)
Oh such a fine dog (Fine dog).
Roger (Roger), he was a mine dog. (Mine dog)
Oh such a fine dog (Fine dog).
Roger (Roger), he was a mine dog.
(Mine dog) Oh such a fine dog (Fine dog)
